EDINBURGH, Aug 16 (SW) – Hearts have signed Lithuanian utility man Marius Zaliukas on loan from FBK Kaunas.

The player has been capped twice by Lithuania, and his versatility to play either in midfield or at the back appealed to the ambitious Scottish outfit.

"Zaliukas has signed on loan and he gives us options because he can play defensive midfield and also centre back," confirmed Hearts manager Valdas Ivanauskas.

"It's important that our players can play different positions in the team."

Ivanauskas also confirmed that club was exploring other avenues for potential signings, with two potential arrivals on the radar.

"We have the chance to sign two more players so it's certainly possible that others could arrive.

"We are waiting to hear whether these transfers can go ahead as they are not 100 percent yet.

"The end of the month is just over two weeks away but these two players are options for us.

"We are talking right now with their clubs and maybe it will take more time, but they know we are interested."
